Warning: Although these 16 trails are legal and their paths are well laid out, you must be in decent physical shape and not afraid of heights to tackle them.

Counting deaths, this is the deadliest trail in the United States in recent years. But most statistics originate from something other than the muddy, slippery path of the exposed spine of the Na Pali shoreline that the trail traverses.
Surprisingly, the official signpost that marks the beginning of the trail suggests that more than 85 people were swept away by the unpredictable tide that occurs on the beach that has the same name.
Falls from the aptly named “Crawler’s Ledge” at mile marker seven are also not uncommon. Kauai recently implemented a permit system for the 25-mile trail to reduce the rescue of unprepared hikers.

You are 3,500 meters above sea level. The 10-mile journey through the pristine Colorado landscape has been arduous so far.
Expecting to reach another 600 meters of altitude, you cross a dirt trail through green valleys and narrow paths winding along impressive falls that would be deadly with a simple mistake in placing your foot.

More than 700 years ago, a Taoist priest in China nailed thin planks to the side of a cliff to reach the top of a sacred mountain.

Any trail to be taken in the place recorded as being the hottest on the planet comes with its dangers. Even the Red Cathedral Trail, marked at four and a half kilometres, is long enough to induce heatstroke in 50+ degrees Celsius heat in Death Valley terrain.
Most day hikers rely on GPS; a notably weak service could be more robust in this terrain. Getting lost from the trail for a few hours in the intense desert heat can be a death sentence.
But wildlife also plays a killer role here.
As you climb the ravines formed by the winds and water, you may encounter one of the three poisonous snakes typical of Death Valley, hiding in a small hole.
